Where Can You Buy Plant Based Protein Powder? - The Complete Guide

Protein powder makes like for vegans and vegatarians so much easier, whether it's for after a workout to build muscle, or just get a bit of extra protein.

Finding vegan protein powder isn’t as difficult as it used to be, although there are still many more options for casein and whey protein powder out there.

But, if you’re new to using it, I completely understand why you might not know where the best places to get it are.

This will, of course, depend on what country you live in, so please click the appropriate link below or scroll down to see your options:

I’ll be adding more countries over time. If you live somewhere else, you may still get some ideas from the lists below.

I’ve stuck to including only established online stores. If a store seemed sketchy in any way (shipping, ingredients, etc.), I left it off.

At this point, you might want to look up the best vegan protein powder for you, so that you can see if a particular store has the one you want in stock or not.

Where to Buy Vegan Protein Powder in the U.S.A.

If you live in the U.S., you have a wide selection of stores that sell plant-based protein powder to choose from.

Keep in mind that even if a store is online and offline, the online store usually has more variety, especially when it comes to plant based protein powders.

Where to Buy Vegan Protein Powder in Canada

Some online stores based in the U.S. ship to Canada as well. I haven’t included any of those stores here, because sometimes you are charged hefty border fees (which I’ve experienced myself). There are plenty of options based in Canada for vegans and vegetarians.

A few things to keep in mind when picking a place to buy plant based protein powder from

The reason I included a column to show how many different protein powders each store sold was because most stores don't have many options.

A vegan protein supplement can be made from many sources of plant protein, but the most common ones by far are pea protein, brown rice protein, and hemp protein. From a store like Costco, where there's only a couple options, there almost always going to be made using one of those protein sources and artificial sweeteners like stevia.

If for whatever reason you want a protein supplement without those (like with soy protein instead), whether it's allergies, digestion issues, or you want a different profile of essential amino acids or branched chain amino acids (BCAAs), you need to pick a store with more options, like Amazon or Bodybuilding.com. Same thing goes if you'd like a pure protein isolate.
